Meet Celebrity Photographer Lora Warnick

Oh Dear Diary, in life you meet people who make a mark.  Lora Warnick is one of those characters that make a difference in your being.  I was pleased to meet Lora at an event as she worked at her gifts.  I was astonished at how amazing she was and she had personality to match.  Lora Warnick captures moments that tell a story.  With every photo she takes she amazes me.  I’m lucky enough to call her my friend.  One of the most fashionable photographers I ever meet.  Get to know the photographer that you need in your life.

In a world full of eye capturing moments what made you decide to pursue photography?

You know, I sort of fell into it! My mom sent me her camera in 2008 when she bought a new one and as soon as I picked it up I was hooked. I started my business almost 3 years ago and it’s been a whirlwind since then! I’m a little obsessed…(laughing)

What motivates Lora Warnick during a photo shoot?

My clients motivate me. I get so excited to bring out their personalities and capture their beauty. And EVERYONE is beautiful. It’s so fulfilling to me to make women, especially, feel really good about who they are. I make them see things about themselves that I don’t think they see when they look in the mirror.  Most of the time we focus on things we view as negatives with our body, hair, face, whatever…to have someone remind you that as a package, we are all special, unique, and works of art, is a powerful thing. It empowers women. I’m all about that!

Do you have a setup that you use for most of your work in terms of camera and lighting?

I truly love natural light. I do work in a studio as well, but I find outdoor light just magical. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and utilize reflectors a lot on my shoots. I don’t have giant set ups and that surprises a lot of other photographers I’ve run across.

You get a chance to interact with many Celebrities what has been a memorable moment?

Honestly, all of my shoots are memorable! But I have to say, one of my first few celebrity shoots was with Tracy DiMarco from Jerseylicious about 2 years ago. Since then, I’ve had shoots with her about 7 more times, shot her engagement photos, and had pics of her on the reunion show. We have become friends and I’m so excited to attend her wedding this year. She’s as real as they come.

What has been the best moment of your career?

Having a billboard in Times Square was pretty exciting for me! I don’t take anything for granted. When a client emails me after seeing their photos and they are so happy, that to me makes it all worthwhile. Creating memories that last forever….spectacular.

What future goals do you wish to undertake?

I’d love to shoot for a fashion magazine and travel to exotic places.

If you met yourself when you were first starting out, what advice would you give your former self now that you are here?

Network, network, network. Get your name out there and be confident. Be cautious who you associate with. The world is a small town.

What advice do you give to talented photographers like yourself?

✨Prepare

✨Show up early – NEVER late. A disorganized shoot is unprofessional.

✨Have an amazing assistant/Creative Director on your team – thank you to Sarah Rice who is   so invaluable to me.

✨Have fun!

As a photographer with a fashion style what can you say you need in your makeup bag?

Lipstick! I have about 38 in my bag at one time. Are their other lipstick hoarders out there???

What is your description for beauty mixed with fashion?

Beauty comes from within and is a combination of confidence and kindness. Fashion enhances those qualities. You can’t wear stilettos and NOT be confident….you’ll fall for sure.
